Christmas Advent Calendars 2013

With exactly six weeks to go before Christmas, it is time to get into the Holiday spirit and what better way to build up your excitement than to open a new window of your advent calendar every day and thus, for 25 days?

And if you can't make up your mind, I'm here to help with my top picks :

The Beauty Calendars

Who ever said advent calendars had to be filled with sweet treats has obviously never seen these.

Filled with 24 mini Paint Pots and Caviar blends, this Ciaté advent calendar is the go-to choice for all the nail-art lovers out there. Now the real question is, which one will you wear on Christmas day?

Boots '24 Days of Beauty Treats' Advent Calendar

Filled with everything from Mavala nail polishes to Vichy foundation and even Soap and Glory shower gel, this calendar has everything you need to be pamper yourself in the run-up to the big day.

Featuring brands such as Lancôme, Kiehl's and Yves Saint Laurent, the Selfridges advent calendar is the most luxurious of all the advent calendars available this year. It is also the first one to sell out, so if you haven't managed to get your hands on one this year, you will now know better for  next year.

Treat yourself or a loved-one to the best of the Body Shop with this advent calendar, which features 24 of the brand's best-sellers, including their infamous shea body butter and festive ginger sparkle mini heart soap.

This advent calendar is packed with luxury samples from some of the biggest names in the beauty industry, including Caudalie, Neom, Stila, Leighton Denny, Dermalogica, etc. Not opening all those doors at once has never been so hard!

Behind each of the 24 doors awaits some of the brand's best-selling products, including their infamous Coralista blusher, BADlash mascara and my personal favourite, Hoola bronzer. If it is officially sold out in the UK, all you lucky American peeps can still get your hands on the gem, so what are you waiting for?

The Traditional Calendars

If you prefer the traditional chocolate filled-calendars or even the old-school pop-up kind, these are for you :

Wake up to a selection of delicious hand-made milk and dark chocolates behind each window - this will certainly brighten those cold, cold morning.

Inspired by the famous poem, this book includes a 3D pop-up calendar - that is 24 windows to open and discover before Christmas day. The result is an incredible pop-up Christmas scene.

Fortnum & Mason Wooden Advent Calendar

Modelled on Fortnum's famous store in Piccadilly, this wooden calendar is filled with delicious, festive treats. Behind each numbered door is something sweet, such as sugar mice, jelly beans, fondant sweets and of course, Fortnum's signature chocolates. You can also buy it unfilled for you to put your own treats and gifts in.

The French girl in me had to mention the La Maison Du Chocolat and their advent calendar, which is filled with some of their finest chocolates. If you live in London, you can find La Maison Du Chocolat in Selfridges, Harrod's, The Village in Westfield and on Piccadilly.

The Not-So Traditional Calendars

If you just want something quirky and different, why not give these a go?

This cleverly named 'Ginvent' calendar contains 24 30ml samples of fantastic artisanal gins from around the world. And if gin isn't your thing, why not try the whiskey version

Each door reveals a tea light candle in one of the brand's festive scents, which include 'Merry Marshmallow', 'Red Apple Wreath' and 'Sparkling Cinnamon' to name a few.

So, which one of these will you open on the 1st of December? I personally can't make up my mind!
