When it comes to jewellery, I am definitely not one to go by the idea that "less is more." Anyone who knows me will tell you that I like to just pile it all on - bracelets, rings and more recently, even earrings. Who would have ever thought dressing up your ears could be this fun? Studs, hoops, ear jackets, crawlers and even ear cuffs - the possibilities are endless, but just in case you need a little bit of inspiration when it comes to creating your own ear parties, I have snapped a few of my go-to combinations, as well as compiled some of my best tips and tricks to get the look.
Tip n°1 : Forget everything I just said, sometimes, less can be more... Assuming this version of minimalism comes in the shape of a cool ear climber, such as this snake pavé little number by one of my all-time favourite jewellery brands, Shashi. I first discovered them on Shopbop last year and I have been obsessed ever since. The latest addition to my ever-growing collection? This evil eye cuff bracelet, which the lovely people at Shashi kindly gifted me along with a few more goodies you can see in this post. Thanks, Shashi!
Tip n°2 : Ear jackets have been everywhere in the past few years, but don't feel like you can't mix and match them with your favourite earrings. Here, I'm wearing a turquoise teardrop stud earring from JewelleryBox.co.uk with my Stella & Dot Pavé Triangle Ear Jacket. Rules were meant to be broken, right?
Tip n° 3 : If like me, you don't like to go too matchy-matchy with your ear parties, split a pair of earrings with a friend to get more bang for your buck.
Tip n°4 : If you like the look of a cartilage piercing, but you don't want to take the plunge, ear cuffs are your best friends. You can find them anywhere these days, but my favourite ones are from iPrecious Creations on Etsy. Konstantinos makes everything by hand and with such attention to detail, it is definitely not something you'll find on the high street. If you like beautifully made jewelry and supporting smaller businesses, this is one for you.
Tip n° 5 : Mixing a statement piece with smaller, daintier earrings like these small hoops from JewelleryBox.co.uk, is a great way to rock an ear party even in the most conservative of settings, like work for example. Luckily for me, fashion offices are very laid-back, but I still like to do this when my outfit is already pretty loud and I want to let the clothes do the talking.
Tip n° 6 : Have fun with it! And don't forget to send me pictures of your own ear parties on Twitter or Instagram at @ElleYeah. I'd love to see them!
Here you can shop the look, as well as a few extras which I have been eyeing up lately :

What's your favourite way to accessorise? Do you also like to pile the jewellery on, or do you prefer to keep things a bit more simple?

Love this! I'm approaching the six month mark on my cartilage piercing and I can't wait to get it in on the ear party action! X
ReplyDeleteOh, exciting! Where's your piercing? x
DeleteOh wow I love all these pieces, definitely makes me want to get my ears pierced!
ReplyDeletewww.britishmermaid.blogspot.co.uk
Thanks! You should - it's so worth it. x
DeleteLOVe this post. I love the ear cuff, it looks like you have your conch pierced which I really want to get down. I also love the blue tear drop with the zigzags underneath.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I really want mine done too, but I don't know if I could wait 6 months to change the jewellery... Haha! 🙈 x
DeleteI wear such a lot of earrings because I have 19 piercings across my ears, with one being a stretcher. I tend to wear odd earrings a lot as well x
ReplyDeleteWow - sounds like you're the queen of ear parties then! x
DeleteI love these, I have always loved jewellery, I do need to increase my earrings, but I do love rings and bracelets and bangles x
ReplyDeleteWhat some absolutely beautiful ear pieces - I love the triangle stud earring, which is has that bit behind as well. So pretty. x
ReplyDeleteThanks! The triangle part is actually from a Stella & Dot set and the pearl back is from Forever 21. x
DeleteI adore the teal and gold ear jacket, I can't wait to get my ears pierced so I can get this done.
ReplyDeleteThanks! They're from two different sets. The teardrop earring is from JewelleryBox.co.uk and the gold ear jacket is from Stella & Dot. Good luck with the piercings! x
DeleteAll the earrings are lovely but I particularly like the one with the multiple pearls at the bottom.
ReplyDeleteI love how simple but elegant these pieces are my fav is the one with the little pearls !

DeleteThese look so beautiful, not too over the top x
ReplyDeleteThough I prefer to keep my jewelry simple, all you've shared here is absolutely gorgeous and I cant seem to choose just one favourite.
ReplyDeleteVery good tips! These look amazing, I like the snake earring :)

ReplyDeleteThese are so beautiful! I really want that snake and those ear cuffs are delightful! H x
ReplyDeleteThanks! They really are! I still can't believe they're handmade! x
DeleteOh I wish I hadn't let my 3 ear piercings heal over. I can just about manage to get one small set of studs in my ears which is pretty impressive after 13 years. I love the ear cuffs - Am I brave enough to go for more piercings?
ReplyDeleteThat is pretty impressive! I am not sure I'm brave enough either, so the cuffs will have to do for now. 😉 x
DeleteI never wear earrings normally but these are all so cute so I might have to start wearing them again x
ReplyDeleteLove all of these looks - earrings are pretty much the only jewellery I wear, really want to add some ear climbers to my collection. x
ReplyDeleteThanks, Lily! You should - they'd really look amazing with your piercings! x

Less is definitely more! Looking at those snake studs on their own, I'd never pick them up, but seeing them on your ear, they actually look pretty cute!
ReplyDeleteThey really make a huge statement for such a small piece. I'm tempted to get them in rose gold now. 🙈 x
DeleteI don't have my ears pierced but I love the look of the Pave Ear Cuffs. I have worn clip on earrings on the odd night out before but I'm definitely a less is more kind of girl when it comes to jewellery. I have two rings I wear without fail and depending on what I'm wearing I might chuck on a necklace, but it's not very often
ReplyDeleteI love the range of earrings so pretty. I need to wear mine more often.
ReplyDeleteWow, that's an impressive collection of jewellery. I don't wear rings, necklaces or bracelets but I collect earings with a passion. They're not flashy or over the top, just simple and beautiful! Like this collection.
ReplyDeleteSounds like the perfect collection! I'd love to see it! x
DeleteI absolutely love everything that you have chosen on here. I can't remember the last time I bought new jewellery!
ReplyDeleteI stopped having ear parties ages ago but after seeing your post I definitely need to start appreciating my holes again... I have six holes and my tragus pierced in one ear and four holes in the other! I can't even decide which ones I like the most as they are all so pretty xx
ReplyDeleteOh! Looks like you have plenty of different options to play with! x
DeleteLove the photography Etlodie! I will admit despite having multiple piercings in each ear I don't have much variety when it comes to earrings. I think I'm going to have to purchase myself some new jewels!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Leanne! I can't wait to see what you end up picking up! x
DeleteI am less is more kind of girl these days but I do like my rings even if most of them sit locked in the box :-)
ReplyDeletethis jewellery is stunning don't usually like multiple ear piercing but these look really quirky and elegant!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love all of these pieces! Can't wait to see you next week! xxxxxx
ReplyDeleteLovely tips. I am loving the earrings you have going on.
