Smoothie Bowls : Three ways

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few months, you've probably heard of smoothie bowls. They're everywhere - from your Instagram feed to your favourite brunch spot menu, and it's easy to see why. They are light, yet surprisingly filling, packed with nutrients and downright delicious, which makes them the ultimate summer breakfast. And the best thing? They are ridiculously easy to make! Just put everything in a blender, sprinkle with your toppings of choice and voilร . So if you too want to give this Pinterest-worthy breakfast a go, here are three of my go-to recipes :

GREEN GOODNESS

Blend together :
1 banana
2 kiwis
1 cup of pineapple chunks
half an avocado
a handful of spinach

Top with your favourite fruits, nuts or granola. Here I am using banana slices, blueberries, watermelon and fresh mint.

Did you know? Kiwis are a great source of vitamin C and potassium, which makes them perfect to have first thing in the morning. With the iron from the spinach and the healthy fats from the avocado, this is the ultimate breakfast smoothie.

MANGO TANGO

Blend together :
1 small mango
1 cup of pineapple chunks
2 carrots
The juice of 1 orange

Top with your favourite fruit, seeds or nuts. Here I am using fresh shredded coconut, passion fruit, strawberries and raspberries.

Did you know? Carrots are a great source of beta-carotene, an antioxidant which your body naturally transforms into vitamin A. Vitamin A is not only great for your overall wellbeing, it also keeps your skin healthy and your immune system strong. What's not to love?

BERRY BEAUTIFUL

Blend together :
1 banana
2 cups of frozen berries
3 tbsp of vanilla greek yogurt

Top with your favourite fruits, nuts or even granola. Here I am using raspberries, pistachios, fresh shredded coconut, sliced kiwi and mango but feel free to experiment.

Did you know? Greek yogurt is a great source of protein, but you can easily swap it for  coconut yogurt to make this delicious, indulgent smoothie bowl 100% vegan.

Now you know mine, I want to know what's your go-to summer breakfast? Are you also a fan of the smoothie bowl? Or do you tend to stick with the usual porridge or scrambled eggs?

    1. They do! The key is to make the smoothie a little bit thicker so it's more filling and the toppings don't sink. ๐Ÿ˜‰ x
