Everything You Need to Know About CBD Skincare

CBD is the latest natural skincare trend to hit the shelves but what is it exactly? What does it do and most importantly, does it work? If, like many, you find yourself confused by the sudden cannabidiol craze, keep on reading.

Cannabidiol - or CBD for short - is a derivative from the cannabis plant. Let's make this clear once and for all - no, CBD will not get you high. It will however help your skin fight free-radicals, prevent early signs of aging and give you that lit-from-within glow we're all striving for. Its calming abilities work wonders as an anti-inflammatory aid and can also help sooth many skin conditions, such as eczema, rosacea or acne for example.

One thing to note is that if both CBD and hemp oil are derived from the same plant, the two are, in fact, not the same thing. They're actually pretty different. The linoleic and oleic acids found in hemp oil are great when it comes to moisturising, but they won't do much more than that. Unfortunately, most cannabis-infused skincare available outside of the US and Canada is made using hemp oil, which means there is very little CBD to be found in there, but let's hope this changes very soon!

Want to see for yourself? I've put together a little guide of the best CBD skincare available right now  :

Josie Maran Skin Dope Argan Oil + 100MG CBD Oil (available here) | 4. Origins 'Hello, Calm' Relaxing and Hydrating Face Mask (available here and here) | 5.
